A black console table anchors an entryway before anything else is on the wall.

Every marble top console table here is natural or sintered stone. Each is between 30 and 45cm deep, so it sits in a standard hallway without narrowing the walkway, and around 75–80cm high — the right proportion for a mirror hung above.

Black consoles suit homes with dark tapware, black window frames and contemporary joinery. Against a white wall the frame reads as a clean line; against a dark wall, choose one with a white marble top so the surface still catches the light.

Styling a black console table

Hang a mirror about two thirds the width of the table, its bottom edge 15–20cm above the surface. A gold mirror above a black console is the classic warm-cool pairing; a black arch mirror keeps the palette monochrome. On the surface, work in odd numbers: a tall vase, a lamp, a low tray.
